Instagram comment keywords you can copy

Most captions say “comment LINK”. Then every comment that contains those letters gets the DM, including the ones that were not asking. This menu is five words, the message each one should send, and the comment that should stay quiet.

Why the word matters more than the tool

An Instagram comment keyword is the word you tell people to type. That word is the opt-in. The private DM is the delivery. If the word is vague, the wrong comments get the link and the right ones get nothing.

People also search “comment for link Instagram”. The job is the same. They comment a word. You send one DM with the link. Meta’s Instagram Private Replies allow one private reply per comment. The menu below is a labeled example, not a client result and not a ranking.

The menu

Copy one row. Change the link. Leave the other rows for a later Reel. {link} means your tracked URL, not a literal brace.

Comment keyword menu with the offer, the DM, and a comment that should stay quiet

MENUThis week's recipes or the content listHere is the menu: {link}A comment that never says MENU
SEATSA workshop with a fixed number of placesHere is the seat link: {link}“Love this” with no word from the caption
DROPA product that is on sale todayThe drop is here: {link}Someone asking what time you post

Contains will fire inside a longer word

HitDM’s default match is contains. The comment can be “menu please” and MENU still matches. The same rule is why GUIDE matches “guidelines” and PRICE matches “pricey”. Exact match fires only when the entire comment is that word. Use exact when you want “MENU” and nothing else. Use contains when you want “menu please” too.

LINK and INFO are the words that look clever in a caption and then fire all week. A comment that says “send the link” contains LINK. So does a comment that is arguing about something else and happens to use those letters. Pick a word you would not mind seeing on a screenshot.

One word, one offer

A comma-separated list is OR. MENU, SEATS sends the same DM if they type either word. That is right when both words mean the same link. It is wrong when MENU is a recipe and SEATS is a workshop. Those need two automations, two messages, and two captions.

Caption you can paste, then edit the word and the promise: “Comment MENU and I will DM the list. One word. I will not put the link in the comments.”

The public reply stays short: “Sent. Check your DMs.” The link lives in the private message. A public link sends them out of the Reel to hunt.

How to pick the word

  1. Pick one offer. One link, one price list, or one seat count. Do not mix two offers under one word.
  2. Pick a word that is not hiding inside a common word. Skip LINK and INFO. MENU, SEATS, and DROP are harder to trip by accident.
  3. Put the word in the caption. Tell people the exact word to comment. Say it on the Reel if you can.
  4. Write the one DM. The private message carries the link. The public comment only says you sent it.
  5. Test a lookalike comment. From a second account, comment a sentence that contains the word, then a sentence that only looks similar. Only the first should get the DM.

Free includes 1,000 of those DMs a month on HitDM. Pro is $9 a month when you also want email or phone captured after that first message. Setup is the comment to DM guide. The reply itself, still one DM and not an inbox bot, is the Instagram auto reply DM page. Plans are on pricing.

FAQ

Should the keyword be LINK?

No. On contains matching, LINK also fires when those letters sit inside a longer comment. Use a word that belongs to one offer, such as MENU, SEATS, or DROP.

Can one Reel use five keywords?

A comma-separated list is OR: any one of the words sends the same DM. Use several words only when they all mean that one offer. A new offer needs a new word and a new message.

What is the difference between contains and exact?

Contains fires when the word appears anywhere in the comment. Exact fires only when the whole comment is that word and nothing else. Exact is stricter. Contains catches “menu please”.

Does this answer every chat in the inbox?

No. The menu is for one private DM after a keyword comment. It does not reply to strangers who message you with no comment.

Use one row this week

Pick MENU or SEATS, not both, unless they share a link. Publish the Reel after a second account gets the DM and a lookalike comment does not.
